Set a routine you can repeat

Plan four or five focused sessions each week, with a separate review window. A 30–45 minute session can be enough for one concept, an explanation in your own words and a short knowledge check. Your starting experience and available time may require a longer programme.

Keep three lists: concepts you can explain, mistakes to revisit and topics outside your current resources. Review a difficult concept after a break and again later in the week. Re-reading until a paragraph feels familiar is not the same as being able to use it.

Weeks 1 and 2: concepts, identity and threats

In week 1, focus on security goals, authentication, authorisation and the purpose of common controls. Use a familiar service as a fictional example: who should sign in, what they may access and what evidence would support an investigation.

In week 2, connect threats and weaknesses to observable events. Pair phishing and social-engineering lessons with short quizzes. Write down why urgency, a familiar logo or an authentication pass does not establish that a message is trustworthy.

Weeks 3 and 4: architecture and response

Use week 3 for network boundaries, cloud identity and recovery design. Draw a small environment and label what each boundary protects. Describe an allowed connection and a connection that should fail; include how you would verify both.

In week 4, practise incident sequencing. Explain the distinction between containment, investigation and safe restoration. For a fictional incident, write a short handoff containing facts, uncertainty, scope and the next authorised action. Do not turn study exercises into experiments on real networks.

Week 5: complete a timed diagnostic and repair the gaps

Reserve a full window for free Simulation A, then reserve another window for review. The review session matters as much as the attempt. Classify every wrong answer and correct guess by the cause of the uncertainty.

Choose two or three weak areas for targeted work rather than repeating the entire bank immediately. Explain the right principle without looking at the original question. Then change one scenario constraint and check whether your explanation still holds.

Week 6: practise transfer and check the remaining scope

Revisit the official objectives and your gap list. Use unfamiliar examples to test whether you understand the control, not just the wording of a question. Practise a timed session only after addressing the recurring misunderstandings in your review log.

When to extend the plan

Extend the schedule if you still depend on answer recognition, cannot explain why alternatives fail, or rush through the final part of a timed session. Adjust your study method before adding more hours of the same ineffective activity.
