Your first useful step

Simulation A is the existing free 90-question, 90-minute training simulator. No new simulator or paid account is required.

What the free test actually includes

Simulation A gives you a timed session, question navigation, review flags and a training result. You may revisit questions before submitting. If you choose browser-local saving, the saved deadline continues while the page is closed; it does not pause just because you leave the tab.

Your optional saved attempt belongs to that browser and device. It is not an account record, verified achievement or entitlement. Avoid saving an attempt on a shared computer, and use reset when you want to clear your practice state.

Prepare for a useful first attempt

Choose a window in which you can work without interruption. Have water and a simple plan for pacing. Close unrelated reference material, because an open-book session measures a different skill from recalling and applying a concept under time pressure.

Do not spend the entire first attempt trying to force certainty from one question. Read the requested outcome, select the answer best supported by the wording, flag uncertainty and move on. Return with the time you have left. These are practice habits, not instructions about an official test interface.

  • Check that you understand the timer and optional saving before starting.
  • Read whether the question asks for the first, best or most appropriate action.
  • Separate facts supplied in the scenario from assumptions you have added.
  • Use flags to manage uncertainty, not as a substitute for choosing an answer.

Treat the result as a study map

The result is a browser-calculated training score. It does not reproduce official CompTIA scoring, certify readiness or guarantee a pass. A strong result on a familiar bank has less diagnostic value than sound explanations for unfamiliar scenarios.

During review, write down the control or distinction behind each miss. “I forgot that an app grant may survive a password change” gives you a better next action than “cloud security is hard.” Return to the matching lesson, explain the mistake in your own words, and test it again later.

A simple review log

Use the same headings for every review so that your notes stay actionable. Include correct guesses: the goal is to reveal fragile understanding, not defend the percentage you received.

For example, if you chose “restore everything immediately” in a ransomware scenario, your review might say: I prioritised availability without establishing containment. Next action: explain how recovery could reintroduce the same compromised identity or path.

How the free and Pro simulations differ

Simulation A stays free. Full Simulations B and C are part of Pro and provide separate practice material with worked explanations. They are useful when you want to check transfer after reviewing the first bank. They are not a promise about what will appear on your official examination.

Pro also includes the released guided labs across defensive investigation and authorised scope review. You are choosing deeper practice, not paying to reveal your free score. Existing eligible members should log in rather than purchase another membership.

OPTIONAL NEXT STEP · PRO

Continue with full Simulations B and C.

Pro includes separate full-length practice sessions with worked explanations, alongside the released guided labs. Scores guide study; they do not predict an official exam result.
